New Faculty Orientation - Fall 2017
New Faculty Orientation | Fall 2017
Wednesday Sept 6, 9am-4pm in Kennedy Library
New faculty (all tenure-line and all lecturers) are enthusiastically invited to join your new colleagues for New Faculty Orientation scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. You are also invited to participate in the Campus Resource Fair scheduled for Monday, Sept. 11, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. (see details below). Both will be held on the 2nd floor of Kennedy Library (Bldg 35).
We at the Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT) host these events every fall on behalf of the Provost’s Office for all new faculty hires (including tenure-line and lecturers). It is a terrific opportunity to connect with Cal Poly’s traditions and campus colleagues as well as to gather essential information critical for your early success.
Mornings highlight key resources and people important for a smooth transition, including a panel of recently new faculty to share advice and answer your questions. After a catered lunch with your new colleagues, the afternoon features concurrent sessions for you to choose from on a variety of topics, including support for teaching and research. The agenda will be posted here soon.
Please register by August 31 so that we can provide a parking pass for the day, prepare nametags and order catering.
New Faculty Orientation Schedule
Campus Resource Fair | Fall 2017
Monday, Sept 11, 12pm - 3pm in Kennedy Library
Here are some representative comments from new faculty who attended New Faculty Orientation and the Campus Resource Fair in prior years:
- "I have compared attending the Cal Poly new faculty orientation to the "Hilton" compared to other new teacher orientations. Very thought out, beneficial, and useful. I wouldn't have changed a thing! Amazing, I love Cal Poly!
- "Hearing from those who had just completed their first year was very helpful. What worked for them, what didn't, and how they wish they had used their time during their first year helped put getting started into perspective."
- "Having the Resource Fair and all the other offices in the fishbowl area (e.g., HR, ITS, PolyCard, Parking, etc.) was very helpful - 'one stop shopping' convenience.
