Equity-Minded Pedagogy Workshop | Winter-Spring 2024

Registration is now closed.

Overview

This is an opportunity for faculty to learn to use institutional data, human-centered design, and equity-mindedness to inform teaching practices toward the goal of eliminating equity gaps and improving first-time course completion rates. Key topics include:

  • Using human-centered design to create learning experiences that put the needs of students at the center
  • Gathering and utilizing feedback from students and student affairs professionals
  • Iterating on lesson and course designs to continuously improve student learning experiences.

The fully online workshop experience will be within a community of practice along with faculty from multiple CSU campuses and supported by Cal Poly facilitators. This allows faculty to connect with other CSU educators who are committed to equity and social justice with opportunities to learn from their experiences creating inclusive and equitable classrooms.

The workshop is designed by William Hardaway, instructional designer in the Office of IDEAS at Fresno State, who is also the course lead. The workshop is supported by the CSU Chancellor's Office for faculty around the CSU.

Design

The fully online workshop includes five modules and both synchronous and asynchronous components. Workshop meetings are both synchronous and asynchronous and there are assignments to be completed outside of course meetings.
