Intro to Equitable and Inclusive Teaching Fall 2025
OCTOBER 15- November 19, Wednesdays 10-11am
Workshop Description
Introduction to Equitable and Inclusive Teaching introduces faculty to evidence-based teaching strategies for equity and inclusion, supports faculty in developing an inclusive course climate, encourages faculty to reflect on the impacts of social identities in higher education teaching and learning environments, and supports faculty in further developing an equitable and inclusive teaching lens. Participating in this program is a way for you to contribute in concrete and powerful ways to our goals of making Cal Poly more equitable and inclusive.
Stipend Information and Time Commitment
This workshop includes a 6-part asynchronous online course (offered through EdX) and in-person meetings for discussion (a hybrid option is available for those unable to attend in person). This workshop is designed for all faculty and instructors who currently teach.
A $500 stipend is available for those who complete all components of the workshop: the online course, 6 synchronous meetings, small assignments during the workshop, and a final assignment for the program that reflects change(s) made in one’s courses on the basis of this experience (more information on deliverables will be shared with the cohort at the first meeting). Please read the CTLT Stipend eligibility policy to see if you are eligible. Partial stipends for partial participation are not available.
Time commitment is 3-5 hours per week for a total of 18-30 hours, depending on prior knowledge, skill level, and experience.
Asynchronous Course
All participants will enroll in and complete an asychronous course. The material in this course is applicable to all disciplines.
Meetings and Additional Assignments
The course will be supplemented by additional assignments that extend faculty learning. The cohort will meet for six meetings in person (with a hybrid option) with the facilitator to discuss each week's course content and its application to teaching.
Meetings will be held on Wednesdays from 10-11 am between October 15 and November 19.
