Intro to Online Teaching and Learning for Semester Courses
June 29 - July 25
We are accepting applications for this four-week, fully online and asynchronous (no Zoom sessions) workshop which will focus on best practices for redesigning your semester course for the online or hybrid learning environment, including developing pre-course welcome letters, course policies, and creating a course design road map that implements a strong pedagogical approach to online course delivery. By the end of this workshop, participants will map out a semester course and design and complete one modular unit (typically 1 week) of a fully online course of their choosing.
Priority acceptance will be given to those whose Course Modification proposals have been approved for online delivery in 2026 or beyond. This workshop counts toward the Course Reviewer Certificate for the CSU Fully Online system.
Participants are not expected to have expertise in online teaching, however a familiarity with Canvas is encouraged. Please plan to spend approximately 6-8 hours a week in collaborative discussions and activities with multiple opportunities to log in and interact.
This is not a self-paced course, and there are multiple due dates for activities including on weekdays and weekends. Please note this information carefully before you sign up for the workshop! If you have vacation plans during this time, it is not advisable to sign up for the workshop.
IMPORTANT: There is a $500 stipend available to eligible participants who pass the course with a minimum 80% score, and who complete all activities. (Download CTLT Stipend Policies PDF)
