Welcome to The Forum

The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology is excited to launch the New Faculty Success Forum, a professional development series designed for newly hired faculty (both tenure-track and lecturers). The New Faculty Success Forum will meet monthly throughout the academic year, providing faculty with a space to exchange ideas, ask questions, and connect with colleagues to support their success.

Beyond networking and connection, each Forum session will explore a timely topic relevant to faculty professional growth and success. Sessions will introduce participants to resources and opportunities available across the university and will build on the sessions offered at New Faculty Foundations in August.

Topics will include building a mentoring network; the retention, promotion, and tenure process; research, scholarship, and creative activities (RSCA); service; and equitable and effective teaching practices.

To meet new faculty needs, additional sessions will integrate participants' interests as they arise throughout the year.

Our second Forum program, on Friday, Oct. 30 on the SLO campus and Fri. Nov. 6 on the Solano campus, features Dr. Simone Aloisio on "Getting Ready for Your First Periodic Evaluation."

Description:  Learn about the evaluation process, including retention, promotion, and tenure (RPT), and what to include in your Working Personnel Action File. The final 50 minutes of this Forum will be dedicated time for developing your Professional Development Plan, with experts available to answer questions and offer guidance.

These sessions will be offered in-person only:

  • SLO Campus: Friday, Oct. 30, 10-11:30 a.m., University Union 220
  • Maritime/Solano Campus: Friday, Nov.6, 9-10 a.m., Gold Room
