Quick Start to Teaching Success, Fall 2025

Friday, September 12, 8:30 am-4:00 pm

Quick Start to Teaching Success is designed for educators new to teaching who would value guidance as they prepare for the start of classes. You many attend any or all portions of the day. Any educators interested in updating and refreshing their teaching knowledge and skills are also welcome.

Come for one or all of the morning or afternoon sessions (see the topics listed below). The morning sessions include information on preparing a syllabus that meets campus requirements while also providing ideas for making the first class meeting engaging and productive and recommendations for establishing an inclusive and welcoming class environment. The afternoon sessions provide an opportunity to develop and articulate your AI course policy to share with students as well as introductions to the Canvas LMS and best practices for accessibility in Canvas.

You will have opportunities for hands-on work to put the recommended teaching practices into action. These sessions are also opportunities to learn with faculty colleagues through shared reflections, feedback, and discussions. You will come away with ideas and drafts of materials that you can apply in time for the start of fall quarter classes.
