Examining Whiteness- Winter 2025 Registration
Thursdays, January 23-February 27, 9:30-11:00am
Examining Whiteness is open to all interested participants but is specifically designed to encourage white educators to critically examine and gain a deeper understanding of systemic racism, Whiteness, and white racial identity. We meet together for 90 minutes a week for 6 sessions and offer faculty and staff the opportunity to engage in conversations inspired by the nationally recognized BARWE (Building Anti-Racist White Educators). Designed for White teachers in K-12 education, BARWE is a “reading and inquiry series [that] provides a monthly set of tools for learning, introspection and having conversations about issues of racism in our schools, classrooms and communities.”
Who is this Space For? Following the BARWE model, this space is intended to work toward developing White antiracist educators. The space is for anyone who is interested in engaging in opportunities to discuss, learn, and challenge one another on topics related to Whiteness, White racial identity, and working toward antiracism. Though these discussions are centered around Whiteness and White identity, all who are interested are welcome to participate.
