Effective Teaching Practices | ACUE Curriculum
Cal Poly is a participant in a California State University system grant program in collaboration with the National Association of System Heads (NASH) and the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE). The grant is providing multiple CSU campuses with a year-long, research-based faculty development programming in support of effective instruction. At Cal Poly, the $100,000 grant supports 90 faculty in three cohorts to participate in a year-long curriculum of effective teaching principles and practices for the 2020-21 academic year.

Effective Practice Curriculum Framework
The curriculum consists of five major units, each with four, five or six modules, addressing core principles and practices of effective instruction. All are online, and are complemented by on-campus facilitation. The 25 modules will be allocated across Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters with support from cohort facilitators for processing and applying content in partnership with cohort peers.

ACUE Online Teaching Toolkit
To support instructors needing to make a quick transition to utilizing an online environment, ACUE is offering resources and recommendations that can be immediately put to use by instructors, to benefit both faculty and their students. These resources are divided into six key topic areas for teaching remotely:

- Planning and facilitating quality discussions

Certification
Faculty who satisfy course requirements earn certificates in effective college instruction, awarded in collaboration with the American Council on Education.
